That is what the law of attraction is saying to those who would listen. If you want something big you heartily wish for it, then it will happen to you. Granted, this concept has gained a massive amount of popularity – not to mention followers – in the years that passed, but have you ever stopped to think about the law of attraction history? These ideas don’t just pop out from nowhere so where did it begin then? Reports said that the law of attraction history dates back to early 19th century new thought movement but still many people believe it even started earlier than that as the 19th centruy timeline is merely when the belief started to have international fame and works are published about it.

It has been said that law of attraction history can be traced to a concept that was found originally in Hinduism and that it had a large effect on Hindi Theosophy, as evidenced by passages regarding the law of attraction as an ideal, which can be found in the Hindu Theosophical History Text. However, the law of attraction’s first mention was in the exact term found in a book which is how far Hinduism can go. It was a book about esoteric mysteries that was written by a woman named Helena Blavatsky in 1877. Several books have discussed the idea but many of them didn’t mention its real term and only made it appear as a concept or a thought. As an example, chapter 23 verse 7 of the Book of Proverbs mentions “as man thinketh in his heart, so he is”, which is what the theory of the laws of attraction is all about.

Many books released in the 20th century added to the recognition that this concept has gained, in particular William Walker Atkinson’s 1906 manuscript entitled “Through Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World”. In this book, he tackled about the theory at length and the way it works. Anther special mention of the exact word law of attraction was done by theosophical writers William Quan Judge and Annie Besant in 1915 and 1919, respectively.

However, law of attraction history considers the recent turn of century year 2000 as the era of “The Secret”, which is a moniker for the law of attraction. The release of the movie and the book of the said title brought it to the attention of some big names which resulted to its widespread popularity in the recent times.

No matter how controversial is the theory of law of attraction now, you can’t deny that it has been around since centuries ago and it’s not showing signs of waning. This means those people who believe in it must be on to something.
