The Drucker School – What’s Happening – Volume 3

From Video Magazine Volume 3 at http://cgu.webvideovision.com – Learn more about the Drucker School MBA, Executive MBA and Financial Engineering programs at our upcoming information session. These sessions provide students with an opportunity to have questions answered by faculty, staff and current students. A continental breakfast is served from 9-9:30 a.m. and the information session is scheduled from 9:30-10:30. Sessions are generally held at the Burkle Building located at 1021 North Dartmouth Avenue, Claremont.
New students will enjoy an interactive, action packed orientation program with activities such as an evening social event and the marketing competition. Designed to give students a real live taste of classes ‘Drucker style’ the orientation program provides a foundation that will help students new to Drucker form a unity and camaraderie that will be unique and special to their class.
Tentatively scheduled for Thursday January 17th from 6:30pm-9:00 pm at Pizza & Such in the Claremont Village, and Friday January 18th from 8:00am-3:00pm at the Buckle Building located at 1021 North Dartmouth Avenue, Claremont. For more information about these free sessions contact Janine Lusano.

If there is anything of value, it is to stay curious and hungry about learning, because learning is a life-time process.” Says Andrew Cheng, founder of Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., Panda’s operations management executives participate in a 12-session program at the corporate-sponsored Drucker School Panda Executive Management Program offered by the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management.
This marks the 8th year that Panda executives will participate in the program, which is led by Drucker School ociate Professor of Management, Craig Pearce. Professor Pearce will be joined by Drucker Professors Jenny Darroch, istant Professor of Marketing, James Wallace, ociate Professor of Accounting, and Murat Binay, istant Professor of Financial Management, during the 12-session program.
In January we are excited to once again offer our popular intensive class, Self and Shared Leadership. It is co-taught by one of our own professors, Craig Pearce and one of his co-authors, Charles Manz from the University of Mass at Amherst. This always popular class focuses the students on learning not just understanding how a team can practice shared leadership but also how team members demonstrate and learn self leadership and its importance in a successful workplace.
The 2nd weekend course is ‘Corporate Governance’. Taught by Cornelis A. (”Kees”) de Kluyver. This two-credit course looks at the fast changing field of corporate governance. It is designed to inform executives about the system, the process, the participants, and the legal/regulatory environment. The first weekend looks a corporate governance boards from a macro/systems point of view. The second weekend looks at the role of the board and board performance. All courses are held in the Burkle Building.
The International Student Orientation gives students the opportunity to learn about the programs and services of International Place: such as the Counseling Center, health services & health insurance, campus safety, immigration issues and working in the USA. Returning International students also attend orientation to kindly share tips of succeeding academically at Claremont Graduate University and how to adapt to life in Claremont.
